Largest roof with solar panels in the world
In 2002 the world horticultural exhibition (AIPH, The International Association of Horticultural Producers) took place in the Haarlemmermeer, near Amsterdam, also known as the Floriade. On the roof of one of the exhibition halls we placed almost 30,000 m² semi-transparent solar panels (PV-modules). With more than 19,000 panels, the photovoltaic generation capacity installed is 2.3 MWp, which made it the largest PV roof in the world at the time!
Multifunctional space
The exhibition hall measures no less than 100 by 278 meters, the area of four football fields. Ventilation is done mechanically from the ridge. The entire construction naturally meets the strict safety requirements. The Floriade is a multifunctional space, still used for exhibitions. in 2020 the Garden Retail Experience (aka the TREx) took place, Connecting Green Business.
