Refurbishment garden centre RHS Garden Harlow Carr
Tuesday 5 March 2024
Recently, we renovated the garden centre we built in 2004 for RHS Garden Harlow Carr. The glass on the deck of this Venlo structure was replaced with 16 mm transparent polycarbonate for better insulation and a fresh new look. This ensures better climate resilience and safety for now and in the future.
It was carried out early this year by our local partner Ebtech Glasshouse Systems Ltd.
This approach will also change the internal layout. The creation of a covered area between the warm department and the outdoor sales area will create a better transition. As a result, the canopy will be more comfortable for shoppers.
RHS stands for the Royal Horticultural Society, a not-for-profit organisation established to promote gardening in the UK and beyond. With five RHS Gardens, the Society welcomes more than three million visitors each year to enjoy over 34,000 different cultivated plants. Events such as the world-famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show, other national shows, work in schools and communities, and partnerships such as Britain in Bloom bring the joy of gardening to a wide audience. At the heart of all this work is a charitable core - to promote and improve the science, art and practice of horticulture and to share the love of gardening and the positive benefits it brings.
Smiemans Projecten, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, was also commissioned by the RHS in 2007 to build 'The Glasshouse' and the Clore Learning Zone at RHS Garden Wisley, which was opened by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
